Team Racing with Gas (Rachel & Sumo)

After losing their playground in the Porthills Rachel and Sumo have been looking for some great trails in different parts of the South Island (enter the Whitehorse!). Rachel has a history of hunting out unique running challenges, including a marathon along the Great Wall of China, and through a South African Game Park! She claims to be a plodder, hoping to finish with funds raised and a smile, but we'll see what happens when the competition strikes. It sounds like Sumo has been whipped into the entry (the life of the engaged). He comes in with a history as a long time amateur, first time caller. He is mainly excited that no matter how slow he is uphill, at least he get to sit down! Get behind Rachel and Sumo and show your support.

The "Whitehorse Challenge" is an event where teams of two complete both a physical and fundraising challenge. The team will split up, with one completing an 18km run, and the other a 25km mountainbike along some stunning new tracks in Waimate, as part of the "Waimate Big Easy" even, on April 9 this year. Each team will need to raise $500 to enter the challenge, with funds being to disbursed to local, regional, and national charities. The beneficiaries will include Kids Can, South Canterbury Hospice, Centrecare Counselling, Whitehorse MTB Club, and further local groups via the Rotary Club of Waimate.
