Rotary Club of Waimate have stepped up!

Ryan & Dylan

The Waimate Rotary Club have decided to add a team into the mix for the Whitehorse Challenge. First out of the blocks is Dylan Murray on the bike leg. His claim to fame is coming 3rd in the South Island Mountainbike Novice race (admittedly back in 1989!). Now his hobbies include brewing beer, delaying knee surgery, and bringing "great hope but nothing to back it up"! Ryan Luckman puts his hand up for the run leg, with a longstanding reputation of signing up for running races and then forgetting to train (it is rumoured his wife has banned him from running any more marathons). He has similar hobbies, including a membership in the "Abandoned Husbands Brew Club" and "illogic optimism". Show your support for the team (and the Waimate Rotary Club) over at their give-a-little page!

The "Whitehorse Challenge" is an event where teams of two complete both a physical and fundraising challenge. The team will split up, with one completing an 18km run, and the other a 25km mountainbike along some stunning new tracks in Waimate, as part of the "Waimate Big Easy" even, on April 9 this year. Each team will need to raise $500 to enter the challenge, with funds being to disbursed to local, regional, and national charities. The beneficiaries will include Kids Can, South Canterbury Hospice, Centrecare Counselling, Whitehorse MTB Club, and further local groups via the Rotary Club of Waimate.
