It's a great day out. Grab a coffee, enjoy the atmosphere and cheer on friends and whānau as they cross the finish line back at Victoria Park.
There's plenty to keep the family entertained in the park, with a playground designed by kids for kids, bird and wallaby enclosures, a disc golf course and beautiful gardens to explore.
Beginners 7km MTB ride
New to mountain biking events or have younger riders keen to give it a go? This one's for you.
Starting at Victoria Park, the 7km course takes in Garlands Track, Point Bush Road Track and Orb – a new track near Waimate Creek – before heading back to the finish line.
ENTRY FEE: $10 all ages
Family fun 15km MTB ride
Victoria Park to the start of the Whitehorse Big Easy trail via Garlands Track and Road. Up the Big Easy, before dropping down part of Cheese Roll to the Pentagon, down the Twisted Linker Track and Twisted Monster, back down Big Easy, Point Bush Road, returning to Victoria Park.
ENTRY FEE: $20 Under 18. $40 Adult
Real deal 27km MTB ride
Starting at Victoria Park, follow Garlands Track and road to the Whitehorse Big Easy trail. Climb to the Whitehorse before linking into Wriggly Beast, Rosewood Link and the upper Filthy Animal.
Enjoy over 5km of digger-built trails on private land, including new and upgraded tracks around Big Gully and the airstrip paddock. Intermediate riders can tackle a range of trail features, with B-Line options available.
Rejoin Filthy Animal and the Big Easy for a second climb, taking in Cheese Roll, Twisted Linker and Twisted Monster before returning via the Big Easy and Garlands Road to Victoria Park

1.5km run or bike
This event is for the younger members of the family, winding their way around Victoria Park. It's a great way to get them involved.

5km run or walk
It starts flat and meanders under trees along Naylors and Garlands Track, then a gradual uphill and descent to make your way back to the finish line. It's all on public land so you can start training at anytime. Child friendly.
ENTRY FEE: $10 Under 18. $15 Adults.
13km run or walk
Up for a bit more of a challenge? This course takes you from Victoria Park through Naylors and Garlands Tracks, climbing towards Point Bush EcoSanctuary before joining the Big Easy. Enjoy the scenery before heading downhill and back to Victoria Park. A good step up from the 5km without committing to the half marathon.
ENTRY FEE: $20 Under 18. $40 Adults.
21km run
The Big Easy's not-so-easy half marathon - but the views are worth it.
Following the 13km route with a second loop of the hill section, this course packs in a whopping 582m of elevation gain. It's a good challenge, a different kind of half marathon, achievable and a great achievement.
ENTRY FEE: $40 Under 18. $70 Adult.
Coming from out of town?
Make a weekend of it. Ride the Waimate Trail to Waihao Forks, browse the shops – including 11 second-hand and vintage stores – or visit the art gallery and museum. And leave some time to discover the local cafés and eateries.
