We warmly welcome Oamaru's first team!

Team Breathe Easy

Fiona and Ben Stratford are stepping up off the couch with the awesome goal of supporting fundraising for the North Otago Asthma Society (NOAS). The NOAS are committed to encouraging better health and wellness by encouraging asthmatic kids to participate in sporting activities. They are currently supporting and sponsoring 10 kids to a term of free swimming lessons. The money raised from this challenge will hopefully allow NOAS to extend this sponsorship to other sporting codes. Team "Breathe Easy" take on this challenge which is out of their comfort zone, recognising this is how many asthmatic kids feel when their asthma is flaring up or not under control. Fiona and Ben last competed in an event together way back in 2007 (the Mototapu MTB), so hopefully it really is just like riding a bike! Show your support for the couple, and the NOAS – all funds raised on this page will be directed to the society to support their goal of supporting asthmatic kids into sport.

The "Whitehorse Challenge" is an event where teams of two complete both a physical and fundraising challenge. The team will split up, with one completing an 18km run, and the other a 25km mountainbike along some stunning new tracks in Waimate, as part of the "Waimate Big Easy" even, on April 9 this year. Each team will need to raise $500 to enter the challenge, with funds being to disbursed to local, regional, and national charities. The beneficiaries will include Kids Can, South Canterbury Hospice, Centrecare Counselling, Whitehorse MTB Club, and further local groups via the Rotary Club of Waimate.

You can donate to the Breathe Easy team here.
