The Final Countdown!
We are on the final countdown to the Whitehorse Big Easy Event. With sunshine forecast for the next three days we're on track for a cracker event! One part of the MTB course didn't cope well with the Cyclone Debbie, so we have switched to the alternate route instead (see the new maps on right). Over the last day we have been safety checking parts of the course, and will continue to do so over the next two days. The incredible track and drainage work done by Trackways and the MTB Club has really shone through, as the tracks have coped remarkably well with the recent deluge.
On Sunday the gates at the South Canterbury A&P Grounds (Waimate) will open from 8am, with the registration tent open at 9am. The race briefing will be at 10.15am, with races starting in 5 minute intervals from 10.30am. The kids 1.5km race will begin at 12pm (midday), and prizegiving at 2pm. Supporters will be well catered for - we have food and coffee stalls, a licensed bar area, kids zone (including Waimate Rocks!), live band, and live video feeds from the course. Entries are also welcome on the day so get on down!
We also welcome anyone to come down on Saturday night. We have free camping available, but also invite any entrants, supporters, or sponsors down to enjoy a BBQ (BYO or Sausage Sizzle), live band, and general meet and greet at the A&P Grounds from 5 - 8pm. Bibs can also be picked up at this time.
